Chapter 8

Before Josh knew it, silvers of orange and gold appeared on the horizon, poking out over the skyscrapers. Josh glanced at his watch and groaned.

“Shit. It’s almost four-thirty.”

“What?” Kiara sat up. “Really?”

“Really.”

Kiara whistled. Then she yawned loudly.

“No wonder I’m feeling exhausted. This alcohol’s going to knock me out soon.”

Josh laughed.

“Would that be a bad thing?”

“I don’t know yet. I think I might be able to sleep well for the first time in a long time.” Kiara groaned. “Sasha will be waking up to open the bakery. Even exhausted, the smell the bread will naturally wake me up.”

That was all the opening Josh needed. He jumped at that.

“You can stay here, if you'd like.”

Kiara’s smile faded. Her mouth fell open as her eyes widened.

“Really?”

“Really. I’ve got a spare room. You can take that.”

But you can stay in my bed instead, if you'd like. That was what Josh wanted to add but he stopped himself. He didn’t want to push it. Kiara was silent for a moment. Kiara sat up and swung her legs over, putting her champagne glass aside.

Josh groaned as she kissed him, cupping her face in his hands. Damn, she tasted good. Josh deepened the kiss, sliding his tongue across her lips. Kiara’s mouth opened and her tongue tangled with his. She sighed and leaned into him, her hands sliding up Josh’s thighs. Josh pulled away and stared at her. His heart felt like it was going to burst out of his chest.

“No sex, remember?” he rasped.

Kiara grinned, sliding her palms up his shirt and grabbing his lapels.

“I think I can make an exception just one time,” she whispered, tugging him back towards her.

Her hands gripped onto his shirt and pulled. Buttons pinged everywhere, but the moment her fingers danced across his bare chest, Josh didn’t care. He tossed his shirt off and tugged Kiara into his arms, groaning as she scratched her nails down his back.

For someone who'd said this wasn’t about sex, she was a wildcat.

Tugging her onto his lap, Josh pressed Kiara down onto his erection. Kiara gasped and her back arched, grinding herself on his cock, biting at his lip. She didn’t protest as Josh shoved his hands under her top, only protesting when Josh broke the kiss to pull it over her head.
